"

The question is how we react to this great prejudice against women. The rule of law and social activism certainly are crucial. But no matter how strong the social structure, there is always that cheek-slapped moment when you are alone with the anti-woman prejudice: the joke, the leer, the disregard, the invisibility, the inescapable fact that the moment you walk through the door you are seen as lesser, no matter what your credentials.

I have no guidance for women who want to rise through the ranks into technical management. I have led a peripatetic life, moving on when a project was done or the next thing intrigued me.

And I am not advising younger women (or any woman) to tough it out. You can lash back, which I have done too often and which has rarely served me well. You can quit and look for other jobs, which is sometimes a very good idea.

But the prejudice will follow you. What will save you is tacking into the love of the work, into the desire that brought you there in the first place. This creates a suspension of time, opens a spacious room of your own in which you can walk around and consider your response. Staring prejudice in the face imposes a cruel discipline: to structure your anger, to achieve a certain dignity, an angry dignity.

  • 1: I'm creative
  • 2: You mean unattractive right?
  • 1: I have all these incredible accomplishments
  • 2: Yeah but look how ugly you looked doing them
  • 1: I have value
  • 2: Not if you're ugly lol
  • 1: I'm conventionally-attractive & posted selfies on my blog
  • 2: I'm so sick of these empty-headed chicks only caring about their looks. Just because you are attractive and get attention from men doesn't mean you are special or deserve respect. Why don't you read a book or do something productive with your life you dumb slut

Angelina Jolie had a double mastectomy, in case you hadn’t heard. How dare she remove those ticking time bombs from her chest, amiright? Like, hasn’t she learned by now that her body is public domain and we all get to vote on what she does with it? Sheesh, how selfish can ya get.

Vigorously applauding

So today Angelina Jolie had double mastectomy, which is the removal of one’s breasts, to prevent Breast cancer. So instead of praising Angelina on her bravery, men on Twitter decided to ridicule her, even calling her stupid for removing her breasts. For those of you on Tumblr that are attacking Feminists for being delusional about sexism against women and misogyny here’s your fucking proof that sexism and misogyny exists.

"I suspect it’s difficult for men to imagine a world in which their bodies have long been inextricably linked to their value as an individual, and that no matter how encouraging your parents were or how many positive female role models you had or how self-confident you feel, there is an ever-present pressure that creeps in from all sides, whispering in your ear that you are your body and your body defines you. A world where, from the time of pubescence on, you can feel the constant and palpable weight of the male gaze, and not just from your male peers but from teachers and sports coaches and the fathers of the children you baby-sit, people you’re supposed to respect and trust and look up to, and that first realization that you are being looked at in that way is the beginning of a self-consciousness that you will be unable to shake for the rest of your life. Even if they are never verbalized, the rules of bodily conduct for females become clear early on: when school administrators reprimand you for the inch of midriff that shows when you lift your hands straight in the air or youth group leaders tell you that the sight of your unintentional cleavage is what causes godly young men to fall, you learn that your body is dangerous and shameful and that it’s your responsibility to cloister it in a way that is acceptable to everyone else. You learn that your body is a topic of public debate that everyone is entitled to weigh in on, from a male classmate telling you that those jeans make your ass look huge to the male-dominated United States Congress dictating the parameters that rape must fall within to be considered legitimate. To be a woman, and to live life in a woman’s body, is to be held to a set of comically paradoxical standards that make you constantly second-guess yourself and jump through a million hoops in pursuit of an impossible perfection."

To be honest, I don’t really understand how anyone can be pro choice when they are alive because their mother didn’t abort them, and being pro choice is basically saying it’s okay if your mother were to have aborted you.

Actually, my mother almost did abort me. I wouldn’t have cared, I wouldn’t have known. but she CHOSE to have me.

That’s why I’m pro-choice, knowing that my mother chose to have me and wasn’t forced to.

Vicky Form is a Mexican lingerie company that has recently released a campaign called ”New commandments for women.”They read,1. I shall never call another woman a whore.2. No one can convince me from not wearing a condom.3. I shall never get pregnant just to keep a man by my side.4. No one can judge me based on the number of people I’ve slept with.5. Is my responsibility to fight for my own (woman) rights.6. I will not tolerate any kind of violence towards myself.7. I will not fear or be ashamed if I find myself attracted to woman.8. It is my decision if i want to get married or not. (and don’t deserve to be judged for it.)
I find this campaign to be a ‘big deal’ for the fact that is released in Mexico. One of the most sexists, closed minded and underdeveloped countries in the world.
Not so many companies take the risk to make advertisements like this because they’re obviously going to be criticized and possibly be affected by it.Someone is taking the risk, telling the truth, and trying to get to the minds of the people. Sharing the fact that we are all human, and have to be equally treated like it, leading to a better and more developed society. Its a big step for Mexico, and for women.

Just a friendly reminder for those of you who refuse to believe that EC is NOT a medication abortion.
Like the people who called this college and harassed administration for offering EC through a vending machine
And the companies that are wasting time and money in court saying they shouldn’t offer health insurance that provides coverage for it.

Sex ed 101: you can’t have an abortion if you’re not pregnant.

My human bio teacher dismissed me when I tried to correct her.
