The GOP would have you believe there’s no war on women after they started the war on women. The first opportunity they had to deflect attention away was when Hilary Rosen, off the top of her head, made the comment that Ann Romney never worked a day in her life. We all know what she meant but it gave the right ammunition to turn it into the war on moms. Just so we’re clear, there is no war on moms. That’s just plain malarkey and everyone, including Republicans know it.

On Saturday, April 28, 2012, women and men across the United States will converge in state capitols and cities, including New York City, to give voice against the oppression of women’s access to health care and women’s rights. Politicians in Washington and in legislatures across the country have been trying, and in some cases succeeding, to legislate away the rights that women have fought for and won over 40 years ago. Over the last several months alone, nearly 1000 bills have been proposed by the GOP targeting women’s rights. This isn’t only a war on women but an attack on all our rights.

Today, as women represent more than 50 percent of the population, and after more than 90 years of having the right to vote, why are we not seeing an increasing number of women in politics, either running for office or in policy making? And, more importantly, how can we exponentially close the gender gap for those in office and in leadership roles within government? Some would suggest that there has actually been a decrease in women running for office overall.

"One of the most fundamental of all human rights is that humans be treated equally before the law. Denying a woman this right is a violation of her equal right to this protection."
I suggest that you read this article. Honestly, I’m speechless that this is even being debated in the US at the moment. I’m literally at a loss for words. It is disgusting to me that these men care so much for the control over a woman’s body. It’s deranged.

Hey America, can you maybe start worrying more about how many people are in poverty, beaten, killed, and raped a LITTLE more than what I and other women do with our bodies? Cause, no offense, I know that I have a vagina so I’m a spawn-of-satan-temptress that has no idea what taking birth control or getting an abortion does to myself and to all you male politicians, but I’m trying to think of others here.
